WHAT TO EXPECT
Your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel to visit the following points of interest:
- Independence Palace: Rebuilt after a 1962 bombing, this site was known as the Presidential Palace during the Vietnam War. It is a powerful symbol of South Vietnam until April 30, 1975.
- War Remnants Museum: Founded on September 4, 1975, this museum documents the impacts of the Vietnam War. Initially named “Exhibition House for U.S. and Puppet Crimes,” it was renamed “War Remnants Museum” in 1995.
- Central Post Office: Built between 1886 and 1891, this building is a fine example of French colonial architecture with Eastern decorative influences. Inside, you will find maps titled “Telegraphic lines of Southern Vietnam and Cambodia 1892” and “Saigon and its surroundings 1892.”
- Notre-Dame Cathedral of Saigon: Constructed between 1863 and 1880, its two bell towers reach 58 meters (190 feet). While renovations are ongoing until the end of 2023, the exterior view is still worth seeing.
- Jade Emperor Pagoda: Built in 1909 to honor the supreme Taoist God, this temple features ancient art made from wood, pottery, and pasteboard.
After exploring the city, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before driving about 1.5 hours through the countryside to the Ben Dinh tunnels in Cu Chi, with a stop for refreshments.
Upon arrival, you will watch a propaganda video explaining how the tunnels were used to defeat American military forces.
The tour continues with explanations of jungle traps designed to maim or create panic among American soldiers.
- Tunnel exploration: You can crawl through the tunnels to experience how people lived there for extended periods.
- Shooting range: Try firing automatic or semi-automatic weapons for a fee (not included).
- Cu Chi boiled tapioca: End the tour with a taste of this local delicacy and reflect on human resilience in defending their home.
We will drive back to Ho Chi Minh City and drop you off at your pick-up point, concluding the tour. End of services.
